2019 Volunteerfest: Putt-Putt Golf Tournament for Children: Looking for Donations & Volunteers!
The Greater Merrifield Business Association (GMBA) is once again proud to team up with the Fairfax County Police Department, the Park Authority & Merrifield Garden Center to host the annual VOLUNTEERFEST putt-putt golf tournament for children Saturday, October 26 from 9 am - 12 pm at Jefferson District Park.
We have a school bus that picks the children up at their elementary school and brings them to the golf course, and then takes them back home after the event. In addition to enjoying a fun round of mini golf, we provide them with snacks, a goody bag filled with books, toys and other fun items, plus a chance to win great prizes.
Merrifield Garden Center leads this effort each year on behalf of GMBA, but we would love to have the support of as many members as possible. If you would like to help us in this effort, we are looking for donations that we can use to buy the supplies and prizes for the children, and volunteers who can be there to meet the children and play mini golf with them. If you would like to make a donation, please write a check to GMBA and put Volunteerfest in the memo. And if you would like to volunteer the day of the event, please let me know. The police department usually has about five or six officers there, so it would be nice to have that many GMBA members as well.
In the event of rain, we will go into the Jefferson Golf Clubhouse and play Bingo and other games with the kids.
We are looking for a few small donations to cover the cost of the prizes.
